IEEE WIE AG - ITALY SECTION - Metrology for the Sea 2021
WIE PANEL FOR MetroSea 2021
AIM OF THE PANEL:
Exploiting the role model and mentoring characteristics of women involved in specific research area of MetroSea2021.
Patrizia Lamberti, University of Salerno, Italy
Roberta di Pace, University of Salerno, Italy
Giulia Cipriano, University of Bari Aldo Moro, Italy
In line with the objectives of the WIE Committment Chart "Steering girls to STEM" (https://site.ieee.org/italy-wie/steer2stem/), the purpose of the panel is to promote female models who are role models and who carry out mentoring activities towards young minds.
To this end, the panel wants to highlight how from the comparison between experienced and early stage researchers on their respective experiences it is possible to identify guidelines and prospects for growth and good practices that increase the presence of young women in the marine research sector.
The structure of the Panel will be composed as follows:
- # 3 topic: Sensors for sea measurement; Biology and measurements systems in the sea framework; measurements and maintenance in the sea framework
- # 3 Speaker experienced researcher (women) with # 2 young researcher / PhD student for each experienced researcher.
Each speaker, role model in the reference sector, will address one of the three selected topics, with a technical intervention on their sector; then the two early stage researchers (two for each speaker) will take the floor and will be able to briefly talk about their experience and ask questions to the speaker.
